During the American Film Market (AFM), KOFIC held screenings of director JANG Hun’s Korean War drama as well as a special retrospective of his other films Nov. 2 – 3 in Los Angeles and Santa Monica, USA. In order to familiarize industry professionals with Jang Hun’s films, the governmental organization screened the director’s noted debut action film
In talks with the director after screenings of The Front Line, Jang Hun answered questions from the audience about the background and scale of the production, and the discussions even went to North and South Korean relations.
In the two Korean Film Night receptions that followed the screenings each day, attendees included David Permut, one of the producers on Face/Off, writer Monica Macer (Lost, Prison Break) and executives from Warner Brothers, Fox International and William Morris Endeavor (WME).
Following in the steps of leading Korean directors such as PARK Chan-wook, BONG Joon-ho and KIM Jee-woon, Jang Hun is a strong contender to work abroad as well. With this view, KOFIC also arranged meetings for Jang with studio executives interested in co-productions and/or Korean film investment.
Meanwhile at the AFM, KOFIC also opened a Korean location promotion booth, supporting the Busan Film Commission and the Jeju Film Commission. The booth saw an average of 150 – 200 visitors a day.
